NORDA partners with emergency service agencies, local governments and volunteer organisations to deliver facilities that respond to the unique operational demands of emergency response. Our experience spans bush fire brigades, volunteer fire and rescue stations, marine rescue facilities, emergency evacuation centres and strategic planning studies that guide future investment across Western Australia.
Our design approach begins with understanding operational workflows, fleet requirements, response times and the day-to-day needs of emergency personnel. Through extensive stakeholder consultation and operational planning, we create facilities that improve readiness, enhance training capabilities and support efficient emergency response while providing welcoming, inclusive environments for volunteers and the wider community.
Beyond individual buildings, NORDA has contributed to the future of emergency services infrastructure through statewide planning and facility standardisation. Our work for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services established a strategic framework for the planning and delivery of volunteer stations across Western Australia, ensuring future facilities are consistent, adaptable and responsive to local operational requirements. The study considered operational targets, fleet and equipment requirements, preparedness, governance, gender equity, safety and wellbeing, and long-term capital investment planning.
